the state of the pregnancy
8 / 17 / 2011Here’s a little progress report on the sprout and I. I’m thinking we’ll do an update every few weeks or so…at least until things start changing more rapidly…then maybe every week? Give you some inside knowledge on how this whole pregnancy thing is going.
How far along? I am “officially” in the second trimester…today!! Happy anniversary to me! Apparently, 12 weeks doesn’t signal the end of the first tri…it’s the END of the 13th week. Food for thought.
Total weight gain/loss: Holding steady at zero. Tim told me this morning, “That means you’re supposed to gain eight pounds in six weeks!” Umm…good luck to me.
Maternity clothes? Thank goodness for summery dresses! Granted, I’m still not really *showing* – and I still fit into my regular clothes (haven’t braved a pair of pants yet, though). However, there is this one dress that apparently makes me look pregnant. Per Tim.
Stretch marks? None…and I’m praying it stays that way. My mom didn’t get any…so that is supposed to be a good sign…so *they* say. I have a fear of stretch marks…
Sleep: It happens…though I no longer can enjoy sleeping through the night. And I didn’t realize how much I’d miss it! I have my needs-to-go-every-two-hours bladder to thank for my lack of quality Z’s – and I LOVE me some sleep.
Best moment this week: Umm…
Movement: Not yet…though Tim read something this morning (or was it last night?) about how what I may mistake as “gas” might actually be the baby doing tumbling exercises in my uterus.
Food cravings: Still no huge cravings…I can eat Tim’s pizza almost every day, though. Yum!
Gender: We won’t know until the end of September…but we have our guess. We should have a gender poll! Who’s in?!
Labor Signs: If I had these, we’re all in big trouble.
Belly Button in or out? Still just as far in as it’s always been. This is one thing I’m curious about – will it pop??
Wedding rings on or off? Definitely on. They’re a little loose anyway, so hopefully I don’t swell up too much later on and have to take them off.
What I miss: Deli sandwiches! OMG if I had a craving, it’d be that. And sleeping through the night (as noted above), being able to run at a faster than snails pace, California rolls…
What I am looking forward to: Finding out if we’re having a girl or boy!
Weekly Wisdom: To anyone who has never been pregnant: round ligament pain is real! And it hurts!
Milestones: I made it through the tumultuous first tri and I’m officially in the second trimester!

Hooray for the 2nd trimester!!!!
Hurrah!
Yay for making it through the first!
I think a baby pool is definitely a good idea AND a poll on boy or girl!
My vote is boy!!
yay to second tri.
i’m so in on the gender guessing (and i am actually pretty reliable) but i need to see the bellies. it won’t work “just like that”. randomly, i’m guessing it’s going to be a boy.
Congrats! My sister-in-love used lots of vitamin E lotion and didn’t have stretch marks. Hope you do not have any either. Do not pack your summer dresses away. When you start showing, even if it’s 40 degrees outside you might get/stay warm.
Have you started talking about names?
Yay for making it to week 14!
If we’re doing the gender guessing, I’m going for girl because EVERYONE that I know has been having boys and therefore it’s about time that we get some girls. (I’m not even kidding a little about this – all 4 of my friends who have had kids in the last year, have had boys). Plus, I just picture Tim as the protective father of a daughter.
Amy: Thank you!
DebbieQ: Yay! Thank you!
jobo: Totally doing a poll! FUN!
jess: I have you down for boy
franzi: Once I actually HAVE a belly, I’ll send you a picture…then you can guess?
Brandy: Thank you for the tip! And you’re right…I’ve heard about hot flashes that happen late in the 3rd try….as for names: we’re talking but we have ZERO. We’re keeping it a secret, too, so the most anyone will know is the baby’s last name.
PJ: How sweet! That is EXACTLY like Tim and probably EXACTLY how he’ll be…I’ll put you down for a girl.
